The responses were very interesting and sparked a generally positive outlook towards the usage of Social Media. It is a constantly growing way of communicating with users and nowadays allows people to share thoughts, conversation, information, images and so on. Common associates include the likes of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram, which are widely used among many major and minor Brands.
We feel using Social Media is a great way to connect with an audience and due to its ever increasing popularity, it is an essential way to share business information presented in a public and friendly way. We are able to interact with our candidates directly and they are able to view posts of potential job opportunities as well as our latest news. Social Media monitoring tools are also a brilliant way of tracking and analysing data on the sites, for example viewing how many people clicked on particular posts. This is a great utensil when it comes to checking the success of company and brand Social Media pages as it can show what appeals most to their audiences.
If you were to type ‘Social Media’ into Wikipedia it would state that it “refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.” A common notion among our followers was the word ‘engagement’ which in this sense is referring to the ability to involve or attract a conversation, which is a major part of Social Media as it allows companies to engage with their audiences. This of course provides a ‘connection’ which was another suggested definition that we all agree describes Social Media well.
All in all Social Media is an innovative way of connecting, whether it is to keep in touch with your friends and colleagues or keep customers up to date and allow the opportunity to establish a better relationship. It is a continually growing network and can be used to benefit us in multiple ways such as to break potential barriers and establish a better overall relationship.
