From lanterns to lightsabers

No two days are the same when you’re an account manager at a scientific marketing company, and when you chuck a two year old into the mix, you can imagine that life gets pretty hectic!, writes kdm communications' Account Manager Annette.

Outside of work I spend a lot of time with my husband and our lively toddler. We love getting involved in arts and crafts and covering the kitchen (and ourselves!) in paint and glue. I grew up in Germany and this gives me the chance to relive my childhood as we used to make papier-mâché lanterns for St Martin’s day every year. It was a lovely tradition and all of the local children used to participate.

I left Germany in 2012 after gaining a degree in intercultural communications and economics at Martin Luther University. I then worked in London for a few years before joining the kdm team in 2017. As a native German speaker, I quite often find myself switching between languages at work, and I like the variability this brings, as well as the range of clients that I get to communicate with. I enjoy indulging in the creative side of my role and getting stuck into different projects, whether that be working with the writers to design a new brochure, or liaising with our videographer – every day is exciting.

Back at home, our most recent project was making lightsabers using papier-mâché and balloons, we even attached a torch to make them light up. Our efforts ended up winning us a holiday to Star Wars Land at Walt Disney World Resort, Florida, courtesy of Heart Radio! You can watch the video that scooped us the prize here
