Law firm eager to support disadvantaged young people and families

Staff at Mills & Reeve’s Cambridge office have chosen Romsey Mill as their charity of the year.

Over the next 12 months they will be carrying out various fundraising and volunteering activities to support the charity’s work. Romsey Mill helps vulnerable children, young people and families across Cambridgeshire, many of who are facing major challenges in their lives.

In total, the charity works with around 2,600 disadvantaged young people a year to develop their skills and help them progress towards training, work and positive involvement in the community. The charity was established in 1980 and operates from a base in Mill Road, Cambridge, offering transition and social inclusion support programmes.

Ian Mather, head of Mills & Reeve’s 300-strong Cambridge office, said: “After hearing firsthand about the great work Romsey Mill are carrying out we quickly came to the decision that they would be an excellent charity to support. We look forward to working closely with them in the coming weeks and months, both in terms of raising vital funds and, just as importantly, giving up our time to get involved in some of their inspirational work.”

Neil Perry, Executive officer at Romsey Mill, commented: “The business community can make a big impact by working with smaller, local charities like Romsey Mill.  Mills & Reeve’s time, expertise and financial support will help us reach out to more people, creating opportunities with them to realise their potential, contribute and to belong.”

Romsey Mill has also announced that Cambridge University Press, a longstanding client of Mills & Reeve, will continue to support the charity for a second year.
