Let’s ‘shop local’ to boost each other’s business, says leading marketing firm

A Cambridge marketing agency is urging businesses to take a ‘shop local’ approach to help oil the wheels of enterprise in the region.

The call comes in the wake of South Cambridgeshire District Council’s launch of its new Cambridge Plus brand and website. The site, www.cambridge-plus.com, has been dubbed a ‘one-stop-shop’ to boost local business and attract inward investment from new firms arriving in the area.

Both the brand and the website were developed by Ware Anthony Rust, one of the region’s most respected marketing agencies. The firm has a strong portfolio of South Cambridgeshire clients alongside the national brands that it has been working with for many years.

“Our company was founded in Cambridgeshire in the 1980s and from that base we have grown and attracted national and international clients such as ADT Security, Bacs Direct Debit, Merial Animal Health and Turkish Tourism,” explains managing director Alison Meadows. “But a great deal of our time involves working with the fantastic brands and creative talent on our doorstep. We’re proud of those relationships and believe that it is possible to combine a commitment to ‘shop local’ with a national, and indeed international, operation.

“We’re now based in Fulbourn and are very much a Cambridge Plus business ourselves, of course, and proud of it. We benefit from the high calibre staff, the quality of life and the cost-effective overheads that come with the territory.”

As part of its relationship with the district council, Ware Anthony Rust’s PR, advertising and digital services are currently being utilised to promote start-up businesses which were recognised in the council’s recent ‘Step Up’ competition.

They include Cambridge Superfoods, an innovative new diet delivery service which takes fresh home-made food straight to doorsteps throughout the area. The firm’s ‘clean-eating’ principles are catching the current consumer mood and sales are going from strength to strength.

Ware Anthony Rust is also working with local entrepreneur Lara Kettenacker. Her ideas-sharing concept for brides-to-be has gone live atwww.unitedbrides.com. The online forum is attracting thousands of hits from young women and couples planning their weddings.

Alison Meadows again: “These are fresh and enterprising new businesses emerging in a highly innovative region. Collaborative, supportive attitudes encouraging firms to utilise services and suppliers close to them can only drive this enterprise and deliver reciprocal success. Helping to develop the Cambridge Plus concept really brought it home to us. Working in partnership is the way to improve business for all.”
