Headway Cambridgeshire writes:
We have just taken delivery of a new treadmill at our Peterborough hub and to celebrate this event and to encourage fitness, clients, volunteers, trustees and staff of the charity are participating in a virtual walk from Land’s End to John O’ Groats during the week of 4th-10th September.
Some people will only be able to contribute a few steps, others might decide to walk to work instead of driving, but all the participants’ efforts will be added up at the end of the week. Our target is 874 miles or 1,748,000 steps (the average person takes 2000 steps each mile) which is the distance between the two places.
Austin Willett, the Chief Executive of Headway Cambridgeshire says:“The whole point of the Headway Long Walk is to emphasise that everyone from the clients themselves to the staff and volunteers plays an important role in the rehabilitation of people with brain injuries. Some of our clients will try and do a few more steps in the gym, others will count their miles by the distance they manage to cover in their wheelchairs. Everyone will play their part.”
