The cost of making or updating a Will can prevent many people putting their affairs in order. To help bring peace of mind, Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) is running its Make a Will Week from Monday 24 - Friday 28 April.
During the week, kind-hearted local solicitors and Will-writers are waiving their standard fees in return for clients making a donation to change patients’ lives at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals.
Solicitors and Will-writers from across the region will be participating, including: Adams Harrison, Buckles Solicitors, The Cambridge Will Writing Company, Heckford Norton, Leeds Day, Petersfields LLP, Tees Law and Thomson Webb & Corfield.
Tom Taylor, who updated his Will through the scheme, said: “I had been putting off as I thought it would be expensive and complicated. However, it was easy to make an appointment and the solicitor was excellent. I'm pleased we've got it done now, it gives us peace of mind, and it’s great knowing we're supporting patient care and treatment at the same time.”
Alice Macek, ACT’s Legacy Advisor, said: “Taking part in Make a Will Week is an excellent way to ensure your families and loved ones are taken care of, at the same time as supporting our two much-loved local hospitals.”
Many people choose to leave a gift in their Will to a charity close to their heart. Alice explains: “ACT receives almost a quarter of its charitable income thanks to gifts left in Wills; many people think they have to be rich, or leave a lot of money, but we really appreciate gifts of any size. They all make a difference for patients, supporting improvements to patient care, facilities and research for generations to come.”
The suggested donation for a single Will is a minimum of £95 and £150 for a pair of mirror Wills, which is less than standard Will writing fees. Please note appointments are limited.
