The first award for International Trade recognises Ubisense’s outstanding growth in overseas earnings, with export markets now representing 97% of total revenue. Ubisense has shown an overall overseas earnings growth of 83% since 2008 and it now sells its products and solutions in Canada, Korea, China and Japan, in addition to its original US and European markets.
The second award for Innovation has been given to Ubisense for developing a real-time, location-tracking system (“RTLS”) that can precisely determine the 3D position of tagged objects to a much higher accuracy than is possible with technologies such as GPS. The system is deployed in a variety of environments, such as vehicle production lines where it reduces manufacturing costs by monitoring, optimising and automating existing processes.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious UK awards, celebrating outstanding business success. HM The Queen selects the award winners annually on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives from government, industry and commerce.
Ubisense receives the prestigious Awards for the first time for its outstanding and sustained achievement in developing innovative solutions and products, and applying them to create significant international commercial success. This year has seen substantial business growth for Ubisense, with new customers including Hyundai and Jaguar Land Rover, as well as wider engagements with established customers such as Aston Martin, BMW Group and Airbus.
“It is the highest honour to receive the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in not one but two categories,” said Richard Green, CEO of Ubisense. “It is tremendous recognition of the work that the team does not only in terms of developing great products but also in delivering these products and solutions successfully to customers globally. We are all very proud and will continue to strive to deliver UK innovation to the rest of the world.”
