More than 60 Birketts’ bags heading to EACH charity shop shelves

More than 60 bags and boxes of donations are heading to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices charity shops following a huge donation drive from Birketts.

The firm’s Ipswich office collected clothing, books, toys and jewellery ready for sorting and selling at EACH shops across the region. These donations are in addition to Birketts’ commitment to raising the £35,100 annual salary of a Clinical Nurse Specialist through its fundraising efforts in 2021. EACH currently has 11 of these vital nurses working across the region, working closely with families to provide support for their children and to develop individual symptom management plans.

So far, Birketts has raised more than £7,000 through efforts from all five of our offices, recently hosting virtual bingo nights and auctions for colleagues and adding thousands to the fundraising total.

Senior Partner James Austin (pictured with some of the bags of donations) said: “Our colleagues have risen to the occasion and filled our donation bags with some fantastic items for EACH’s charity shops – We hope these can go some way to supporting the important work of EACH and I look forward to seeing the efforts of our other four offices in the coming weeks.

"Our Collective Social Responsibility (CSR) work is of the upmost importance to us. Conducting our work responsibly and ethically, allowing our colleagues the flexibility to take a day’s paid leave for volunteering and supporting our local charities all support our mission to contribute to our communities in a positive way. We practice what we preach and I am excited to see our fundraising total continue to rise.”

Fundraising Officer Caroline Allen added: “We truly appreciate the lengths Birketts and their staff go to in supporting our nurses, our therapists and our hospices. The first months of 2021 have been as challenging for EACH as the last year of the pandemic; our fundraising activities were halted and donations to our shops were ground to a standstill, all while we continued to provide the services the children and families we support are in need of. Donations like these make a huge difference in their lives. Our team are busy sorting and distributing the content of all these bags and these items will be heading to a charity shop near you soon.”
