Saturday 27 June, 12.15pm, Volac Park, Granchester Road, Cambridge, CB3 9ED
The volunteers will swap their jerseys for rubber gloves to help spruce up the ground ahead of the new season.
The MP will lend a hand with wire brushing and painting wooden fence posts, cutting back foliage and doing some serious litter picking.
The plan is to make the club look as smart as possible so it can be a premier host for people in Cambridge and the surrounding area to watch the Rugby World Cup.
Gordon Newbound from the Club said: “We have 400 school children here on Sundays throughout the season, our community team provides coaching for over 40 schools , clubs and colleges and our senior side attracts 400-1600 supporters on match days. This all leads to a lot of wear and tear on our facilities so we heavily rely on the volunteer help we receive on days like today.”
Daniel Zeichner MP said: “It’s great to see so many local volunteers pitching in to get Cambridge Ruby Club in shape for the World Cup. We’re kicking weeds into touch and try-ing our hands at painting and decorating. There’s a great team spirit!”
