MP welcomes Cambridge finalist in Great British High Street Competition

Daniel Zeichner MP has welcomed the news that Mill Road, Cambridge has today been announced as a finalist in the Great British High Street Competition 2015.

Mill Road will now compete against two other finalists in its category and against the other 20 finalists across all seven categories for the overall “Winner of Winners” prize. The winner not only has to impress an expert judge, but will also have to emerge victorious from a public vote on the Great British High Street Portal which will make up 50% of the final decision.

Voting will be open until mid-November, after which the winners will be announced at a ceremony in London.

Daniel Zeichner said:  “I am delighted to hear this news and there can be no doubt that we have a very deserving finalist. Mill Road is a vibrant, cosmopolitan area and I am pleased that it has been given the recognition it richly deserves as one of the stand-out high streets in the UK.

"This achievement is a testament to the commitment shown by traders and local people alike, who work together to ensure Mill Road’s special place at the heart of our community. The growing popularity of the annual winter fair [pictured] is further evidence of this appeal.

"I have no doubt that Mill Road will impress the judge and public alike, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with the local community to support its bid.”
