Polysolar launches photovoltaic lean-to carport at RetroExpo

Polysolar presented its first lean-to carport at RetroExpo, the UK's leading environmental building retrofit exhibition held at the NEC 30 October-1st November.

The modular carport design, using Polysolar's unique transparent solar PV glazing, is suitable for both domestic and commercial clients.  The system  enables the owner to generate renewable electricity to power either an electric car or the building.  The transparent PV glass lets light through to see while protecting the car from the weather and UV degradation.

Polysolar's unique transparent thin-film photovoltaic panels delivery a multifunctional building material that effectively generates renewable electricity. The laminate glass panels are specifically designed for building integration offering superior annual energy yields compared with conventional crystalline PV modules.

Hamish Watson, Polysolar CEO, explains that In a carport structure you get both an attractive functional structure plus the revenues and energy savings of a PV array at a marginal additional cost over a standard carport.
