Arthur Rank Hospice Charity invites you to remember and celebrate the lives of people you love through Light up a Life.
Once again, they invite you to the choice of one of two services. The first will be held at 4.30pm in the Hospice’s grounds at Shelford Bottom, on Sunday 1 December and the second will take place at 4.30pm at St Peter’s and St Paul’s Parish Church in Wisbech, on Sunday 8 December.
The special evening is a wonderful opportunity for people to join-together with an extraordinary community of colleagues, volunteers, supporters and friends, to reflect, remember and look ahead to the future with hope.
Both services are free to attend and will feature carols, poetry and music. As the lights are switched on existing trees in the car park of the Hospice in Cambridge and stars are placed on the tree in the Church at Wisbech, you can take a moment to pause and reflect on the love and memories you have of those who have died and who still live on in your heart and mind.
Everyone is welcome to attend, no matter what part of the journey you are on and whether you have or haven't received our care. These events are open to people of all faiths or no faith. At the end of both services, there will be warm drinks and snacks available.
One of the attendees from Light up a Life last year shared:
“I would just like to pass on how grateful me and my family are of you. We were all at the ceremony and it was absolutely wonderful and so calming. Thanks again for the amazing care Arthur Rank Hospice Charity gave my Grandad. The carers made his last three weeks comfortable and we couldn’t be more thankful for them.”
The Charity invites you to share the names of loved ones in a Commemorative Booklet. A copy of the Light up a Life Commemorative Booklet will be posted to each person who donates in memory of someone. Please visit arhc.org.uk/lual by Wednesday 13 November to be included in the printed booklet. Donations will still be welcomed after this date and names will be added to a digital addendum which will be available on the website from Friday 29 November.
The Light up a Life Appeal makes a significant contribution towards the £13 million it takes to run the Charity each year (and the £5.1 million which needs to be raised by the Charity in 2024/2025), to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care.
Thanks to the invaluable support of the local community, over 3,600 patients are cared for each year, free of charge at the Hospice in Shelford Bottom, the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech, and in people’s own homes across Cambridgeshire via the Community Team.
