Since being established in 1992, FWD-IP (pronounced forward) has grown from a small family business and now has an established team across the UK specialising in critical communications infrastructure, security and audio-visual systems. Originally formed by Michael Grainger the company is now run by his son Stuart who joined the company as an apprentice engineer in 1993.

FWD-IP will be familiar to City fans as the company has sponsored the kit of the Cambridge City Ladies first team for a number of years with the team a key member of The Lilywhite family consisting of girls, boys, ladies, disability, youth and of course the men’s first team.

The stadium in the South Cambridgeshire village of Sawston will boast a 572 seater grandstand comprising facilities for officials, players, supporters, community groups and businesses including hospitality and meeting places. Around the ground there will be three standing terraces including a fully accessible spectator area, club shop and fan zone.

FWD-IP Managing Director, Stuart Grainger, said; “As we complete 30 years in business this summer, we have decided to mark the occasion with the announcement of our latest partnership with Cambridge City Football Club. Having supported the Cambridge City Ladies team for over 4 years, it is a privilege and proud moment for us to share with you all the next step on our journey. We are excited to announce that the brand-new football stadium for 2022 will be named the FWD-IP Community Stadium.”

“We are looking forward to continuing our support with local businesses in the community as this is at the forefront of what we believe in and do. This also includes our ongoing support with the Cambridge City Ladies Football Team. Here's to seeing our name in lights, and another 30 years in business!”

City Chairman, Kevin Satchell, said; “Announcing this partnership with FWD-IP is another exciting stage in the clubs journey to our new home and stadium in Sawston. The FWD-IP Community Stadium will not only be a football stadium but a place for the local community and businesses to come together for anything from meetings and working space to weddings and other celebrations – not to mention exciting football action!”
