Into Sport Group signs landmark deal with Olympic national governing body

Cambridge based technology company, Into Sport Group, is pleased to announce that BADMINTON England will begin using their Performance product to track and manage all of their elite athletes - including those competing in the London Olympic Games.

Performance, delivered as Software as a Service (SaaS), allows sports organisations to securely manage entire programmes online, whilst providing a hub for athletes, coaches and support staff to record and analyse data from training and competitions.

The agreement marks Into Sport Group’s largest deployment of Performance to date, with 1500 athletes, coaches and support staff set to be using the product by the end of 2012.

Into Sport Group’s service will replace BADMINTON England’s previous spreadsheet based system for tracking their athletes, and bring everything into a secure online environment where information is easily available to those that need it.  It will also help them to manage a wide range of programmes, including their Performance Centres based all over the country

Jens Grill, Performance Director for BADMINTON England, is excited about what this new technology will provide:  “This agreement is a huge step forward for our programme.  Performance will allow us to refine all of our current processes and provide us with a vastly improved way of capturing and analysing data.  It will also enable athletes and coaches to get detailed insight into progress made in training and competitions.

"A system like this is a key component for the smooth running of our programme, and will lay the foundations for future success at Glasgow 2014, Rio 2016 and beyond.”

This deal marks an exciting beginning to 2012 for Into Sport Group.  BADMINTON England is now the fifth National Governing Body of sport to use the Company’s technology services, with England Netball, Pentathlon GB, the English Table Tennis Association and British Judo all now seeing major benefits across different areas of their development and performance programmes.  The company is also an established provider to a host of other governing bodies and sports organisations including UK Athletics, USA Football, Archery GB and David Lloyd Leisure.

Colin Miles, founder and Managing Director of Into Sport Group, commented:  “We’re delighted to announce this new partnership with BADMINTON England, and doubly pleased to be working with another Olympic sport in 2012 when the games come to London.

"Technology has so much to offer in improving the performance of athletes and the teams that support them.  At Into Sport Group we combine a deep knowledge of technology with a genuine understanding of high performance sport to deliver competitive advantage for our clients.

"Performance has already been described as a ‘game changer’, and we’re already seeing countless benefits and improvements being realised by our clients. Our product roadmap is incredibly exciting and we’re working closely with our existing partners to develop new applications for both training and competition.

"It’s particularly exciting for us to be based within the Cambridge technology cluster, working alongside and drawing inspiration from some of the city’s most successful and disruptive companies.”
