Student volunteers take on the litter louts

Students taking part in Anglia Ruskin's annual Student Volunteering Week and Cambridge's MP Daniel Zeichner will be tackling Cambridge's litter bugs tomorrow (Friday 12 February).

The big clear up will take place on Coldham's Common, the well loved open space that is home to diverse wildlife and sports pitches.

The volunteers will be issued with gloves, bags, and litter-picking tools.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “Thanks to all the students giving up their time.

"We always need to be vigilant in the battle against discarded fast food wrappers, crisp packets and plastic bottles which can quickly turn an area into a grot-spot.

"This is a great initiative from the Students Union. It's enjoyable because of the people you meet and rewarding to help keep Coldham's Common safe and litter free for all its many users."
