This first visit to the USA by the official venue-finding service for the University, Colleges, hotels and other unique venues was aimed at further enhancing the global reputation of Cambridge as a key player in the meetings industry.
Promoting its first-class portfolio of venues, both historic and contemporary, resulted in inquiries from US buyers for international conferences, corporate dinners and incentive events.
The event also delivered 250 new leads for Conference Cambridge, 80% from the US and the remaining from Canada, Europe, India, China and other locations worldwide. Nearly one quarter were from corporate organisations, 10% from associations and the remainder from incentive houses, agencies and other bodies looking to hold meetings and events.
Kelly Vickers, Manager of Conference Cambridge said: “We were delighted to have attended IMEX America to fly the flag for Cambridge and to showcase our range of venues and facilities for meetings. Cambridge can deliver a truly unique event experience and with the recent addition of hotels and other unique properties to our portfolio, we now offer a wider choice of venues suitable for events of all types.
“The City already has an established global reputation not only for its University but also its groundbreaking scientific and medical research, both in the past and today. Visitors to our stand were impressed by our venues and our location - only one hour by rail from London and with the announcement of new routes and opportunities to fly from the US into Cambridge Airport – we are ideally situated for international delegates attending an event here”.
