World-class experts in product development from leading international businesses - Microsoft IoT-Solutions, Bosch, Carnell Group, Avnet, Express Group and Ultra Electronics – provided a showcase of their displayed IoT and wireless technology products at the free event, supported by CW (Cambridge Wireless).
Fen Technology, an electronics design consultancy that specialises in designing a diverse range of IoT solutions, hosted the event to demystify the product development process for a wide range of Cambridge and East of England businesses.
More than a quarter of attendees enjoyed a free 1-2-1 appointment with Fen Technology’s leading engineers, confidentially discussing complex challenges they are experiencing around an electronic-based product or service. The event focussed on End-to-End IoT, Wireless Communications, Instrumentation, Wearables, Automotive, Industrial and high-power electronics.
The exhibitors, clients and suppliers of Cambridge-based Fen Technology, also held some live demonstrations including of a robotic lawnmower for the Smart Home market, a mobile vital signs medical monitor for the transport sector, and connected “Overheadsafe” hazard alert system for road workers.
Patrick Nicholson, Managing Director of Fen Technology says: “The event was a huge success and we have been thrilled with the response to this, our first, IoT Product Development Surgery. This region is such a hotbed of electronics-based innovation and as the market for ‘smart’ connected devices swells so we see the demand for an agile, responsible and value-driven electronic design consultancy such as Fen Technology also grow.
"We have been quietly solving complex product challenges with cutting-edge electronics solutions at all stages of the product lifecycle for decades. Following our acquisition by Inspiralia earlier this year, Fen Technology is now emboldened to share in the marketplace our deep expertise. The successful IoT Product Development Surgery was borne from that desire and I am excited about the future developments we have in the pipeline.”
Fen Technology was acquired by Inspiralia, a €21m product development consultancy headquartered in Madrid, Spain earlier this year. The deal bolstered the group’s technical product development offer, both in scope and depth. Fen Technology has huge ambitions in the UK and across Europe and is now increasing its profile, especially in the IoT space.
Simon Mead, CEO of CW (Cambridge Wireless) says: “Bringing together the engineers behind each of Fen Technology’s products to discuss the design process with peers and openly share challenges and solutions has produced an invaluable learning opportunity for the technology community. Events such as this IoT Product Development Surgery are exactly what CW is here to support, and it was a pleasure to work with Fen Technology (a CW member) on its delivery.”
