This Friday (10 May 2024), Daniel Zeichner, MP for Cambridge, will ‘pour a cup of kindness’ with Red Cross at 10:30am, Burleigh Street, CB1 1BJ, to celebrate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.
The annual event puts the spirit of humanitarianism front and centre and recognises individuals who make a difference in their local communities. Zeichner's visit will be one of many tea sessions taking place up and down the country to celebrate Red Cross's work.
The MP will also sit down with a local British Red Cross emergency response volunteer to discuss the support the charity provides to Cambridge people in crisis.
A leading aid charity, the British Red Cross spends over £300 million a year on helping people in crisis - through first aid education, crisis response, refugee support, home care services, and international emergency and response aid.
The Cambridge MP had this to say: ‘I’m proud to ‘pour a cup of kindness’ with Red Cross in Cambridge to celebrate World Red Cross Day. This year's theme is 'Keeping Humanity Alive'. That perfectly encapsulates why we should all support one another – it benefits us all. The staff here in Cambridge do so much for the people in the city who need it, and I’m delighted to sit down and discuss their important work this Friday’.
