The HR peer group is comprised of over 350 individuals. The group is open to anyone in an HR or L&D related role from our member organisations. The purpose of the group is to give professionals the opportunity to collaborate by sharing experiences, knowledge, and resources.
The group is suitable for individuals from any level in HR and L&D, with the most common job titles being HR Business Partner, HR Manager and Head of HR.
Events
All members can attend HR peer group events free of charge, and we usually run one event every two or three months. The topics are steered by the group’s interests, and anyone can suggest a subject they would like to see covered in the future. Our events are usually an hour and a half long, including 30 minutes for networking and a presentation of 45-60 minutes from a subject specialist.
Almost all our events take place in person, and many are hosted by our member organisations. Recent events have covered topics such as best practice in workplace investigations, understanding imposter syndrome, supporting organisational culture change, and insights into employment tribunal trends.
Q&A Mailing
Our fortnightly Q&A mailing gives members the opportunity to ask questions about any area of HR or L&D and receive answers from the rest of the group. Responses are collated and shared back anonymously. Many members find this to be an extremely valuable resource, allowing them to understand more about workplace trends within the Cambridgeshire area and beyond. Questions and answers regularly include information about salary increases, benefits packages and policy guidance.
Who can join?
The HR Peer Group is free to attend for Cambridge Network members working in the relevant functions within HR.
Please note, peer groups are available to organisations with six or more staff.
Contact jennifer.turley@cambridgenetwork.co.uk if you or your colleagues would like to join.
"As HR professionals, networking is such an important part of our CPD and the HR Peer group meetings provide the perfect space to discuss a range of HR topics with likeminded professionals. Each session has a clear agenda and follows a set topic, so you can tailor your involvement to your business needs. Joining any networking group can be daunting, but the Cambridge Network team are always friendly and welcoming, and help you to feel like a valued member of their community.
I have found that responses to the Peer Group Q&A’s, from companies across the tech space, have helped to guide my decision making, allowing for up-to-date benchmarking and sharing of ideas and strategies. Having this data to hand gives me the confidence to move forward with many of my business decisions."
