About the Role:
The Faculty of Health, Medicine & Social Care combines a strong research culture with excellence in the delivery of research informed teaching and learning, including simulation and practice learning through simulation, across a wide range of courses. The Faculty is the largest in Anglia Ruskin University comprising of almost 9,000 students studying across our portfolio, and we are proud to educate doctors in the first School of Medicine in Essex.
Over the last five years we have grown significantly by seizing opportunities, responding to national priorities and the needs of our local health and care service partners. Our courses have been designed to achieve the best student outcomes, wherein they learn using high-end facilities which mirror real-life clinical and practice situations. We partner with the NHS, Local Authorities, with Schools, Private, Voluntary, Independent and Third Sector partners, ensuring a broad range of placement opportunities are available to our students/learners. We are seeking a Deputy Dean (Education) to provide collaborative leadership in the areas of student experience and student outcomes, portfolio diversification (including apprenticeships and distance learning), and innovation in education. Other duties will include working with our health and care sector partners, contributing to the research, innovation, and knowledge exchange activities of the Faculty. We are searching for an exceptional individual with a proven track record of Senior leadership in HE, including line management and development of staff, as well as academic planning and quality assurance experience. The ideal candidate will have a relevant Honours degree/professional qualification relevant to the faculty, PhD or Professional Doctorate, a Senior Fellowship of the HEA.
Please note: This is a professorial appointment. Individuals joining us from another UK university, already holding the title of Professor awarded by that university, will have that Professorship recognised, subject to ratification by the Vice Chancellor. If the applicant is not currently a professor at another UK University, it may be possible to recruit to a professorship subject to meeting ARU’s Professorial Framework criteria.
