Cambridge Airport is one of only five regional airports designated 24/7 in the UK, with the slot allocation provided through Airport Co-ordination Limited (ACL) who manages the Olympic slot allocation system. The airport has the added benefit that it is located ten miles north of the restricted fly zone, which enables incoming aircraft to avoid the congested London airspace.
Cambridge Airport is located north East of London just under an hour by convenient fast road networks to reach the East of London where the key Olympics venues, such as the Olympics stadium and Water park are located. With the capacity to provide helicopter transfers as well as on site chauffeur services and a 45 minute direct rail link into London’s Central King’s Cross Station.
With a 1965m/6447ft runway accepting aircraft up to Boeing 757 or Airbus 320 it is suitable for intercontinental business jets as well as small cabin aircraft. It boasts CAA Category 7 Fire & Air Traffic Control status and has full navigational aids and communications, which include radar approach coverage up to 30nm.
Airport Director, Archie Garden, said: “Significant investment has already been made including major improvements to the terminal, which now provides full screening capabilities for larger aircraft, whilst smaller executive jets will arrive through the stylish and new FBO managed exclusively by ExecuJet Europe.”
Cambridge Airport is part of the Marshall Group of Companies, a private family business, owned and managed by the Marshall family. The business was founded in Cambridge in 1909, and entered aviation in 1929. The Marshall Group activities include Cambridge Airport, Marshall Executive Aviation, and Marshall Aerospace, focused on engineering and technology.
