Version 1.0 of 'Melvor Idle' game launches on PC and mobile

Australian-based game studio Games by Malcs, together with publisher Jagex Partners, has announced the full launch of popular feature-rich idle game Melvor Idle. Since its first public early access release in September, Melvor Idle has welcomed more than a million players across Steam, App Store and Google Play Store.

Version 1.0 dropped yesterday (November 18th), marking the official launch of Melvor Idle, a RuneScape-inspired experience suitable for veterans of the franchise and newcomers alike. Players will find an in-depth and endless combat system featuring eight dedicated Skills, countless dungeons, bosses to vanquish and lore to unearth. There is also a deep and accessible system featuring 15 non-combat skills to train, all with individual mechanics and interactions.

There’s also a fully featured and interactive bank/inventory system, more than 1,100 items to discover and utilise, 40+ decidedly cute pets to collect and cloud-saving functionality that is compatible across all platforms. Melvor Idle’s full launch follows the recent announcement that the game will be published by Jagex Partners, the publishing arm of British game studio Jagex.

Jagex has been supporting various aspects of Melvor Idle’s promotion and development, including localising the Version 1.0 on Steam and mobile devices in 13 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Russian, Turkish and Japanese.

Brendan Malcolm, Games by Malcs founder and the creator of Melvor Idle, said: “It's been a long journey to get to this point, but I am very happy to be able to announce the full launch of Melvor Idle! V1.0 adds so much of the content that the community has been clamouring for and we look forward to seeing them enjoy the new Astrology skill and particularly the end-game boss. The support that Jagex has been able to provide with creative services and localisation in particular has been instrumental in helping us complete our vision for the game - making it available to the widest possible global audience.”

Chris Pfeiffer, Director of Product Management for Jagex Partners, said: “We are extremely proud to be a part of the full launch of Melvor Idle. Brendan and Games by Malcs have impressed us with their vision for the game and the work they have put in to make it such a success in a relatively short space of time. We see this partnership as an excellent example of what can be accomplished when working with a developer that is so well aligned with our core values of what makes a great game - with the focus on the game’s community being the most important piece. We look forward to using the skills and experience we have at Jagex Partners to continue supporting the future development of Melvor Idle and bringing it to an audience we know will love to play it.”

Jagex CEO Phil Mansell added: “Jagex Partners is a core component of our strategic plans to build the go-to publisher for developers who share our vision of creating lasting and deep community-driven games. Melvor Idle is the second title we have signed, and as a player of the game – along many others who work at Jagex – I am delighted we’re able to bring it to the attention of the many millions of RuneScape players and fans of idle games alike. We look forward to announcing more Jagex Partners titles in the future.”

While the release of Version 1.0 marks the end of Early Access, this is by no means the end of development for Melvor Idle. Games By Malcs has three huge content expansions planned for the future, so players still have a great deal of new content to look forward to.

Melvor Idle is available on Steam (with 93% positive reviews) and will be launched in November priced at $9.99 / £7.19 / €8.19. The game is also free to try on iOS (4.9/5 review score) and Android (4.8/5 review score*) with in-app purchase for the full version.
