About the Role:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Community Outreach Officer to join the Schools and Colleges Engagement team within the Corporate Marketing Directorate. This role will support the delivery of our Access and Participation Plan and Education Action Plan by collaborating with partners, local authorities, charities, and community groups.
As a Community Outreach Officer, you will develop and deliver face-to-face and virtual activities aimed at engaging primary, secondary, and Further Education students, as well as their parents and carers. These activities will take place both on-campus and within local communities, focusing on key target groups including care leavers, students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), students from military families, and students from Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, Showmen, and Boater (GRTSB) communities. The programmes will focus on raising aspirations and increasing attainment, offering progressive activities that guide learners through their educational journey.
To succeed in this role, you should hold a degree or be part qualified in a relevant professional qualification at degree level or have appropriate experience. A passion for working with diverse groups of people is essential, along with a solid knowledge of progression routes to higher education. You will play a key role in supporting young people and mature learners to take confident steps toward their next stages in education and career development.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative and creative thinker who is enthusiastic about engaging and inspiring others. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are essential, as you will be required to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders. Your ability to engage a variety of audiences and excite them about the opportunities available through higher education will be key to your success.
You will be based at our Cambridge campus, with the flexibility to work on an agile basis. This will involve a mix of office-based and home-based working. The role will also require regular travel within the Eastern Region, occasional travel between campuses, and occasional work outside of normal office hours.
It is expected that face-to-face interviews will take place on Wednesday 20th November 2024.
